What if we didn't just choose schools that were good for our kids?
What if we also chose to benefit our community?

Let's face it.  It's hard to pick a school for our kids.  It's so easy to get caught up in lists of test scores, art or instrumental music, Montessori or International Baccalaureate or Magnet, minutes of recess and playground quality.  Dazed and confused, you stumble through multiple tours and try to remember which school started when.

It's easy to forget that schools are sites to build community.  For all communities....no matter your race or socioeconomic class.  What if we chose to use our choice card to select schools that have not yet arrived to their fullest potential?  How could your one choice not only benefit your child, but all children in Minneapolis schools?

Let's chat about it, shall we?

We are just a group of parents that are trying to figure out how to use our privilege to not just benefit our own kids.  Come join us in raising questions, challenging each other and supporting one another as we try to imagine another way to select schools.
